Mission Statement
St. Joseph Day Worker Center seeks to provide a dignified setting in which to connect workers and employers. We strive for the empowerment of all workers through fair employment, education and job skills training, with the goal of achieving full economic self-sufficiency.
History
St. Joseph Day Worker Center, East County was founded in 1993 (as the Day Worker Service Center) to address the needs of the day workers in San Jose and to create conditions of dignity for employment. The project was operated by Most Holy Trinity Church under the guidance of Sr. Mary Peter McCusker. At the request of the Board of Directors, the St. Vincent de Paul Society took over operations in July 1998.
